With state-of-the-art features in a compact design, this titrator provides accurate results and takes up less space in the lab. Get accurate water content determination at the touch of a button. Designed for the modern laboratory, this karl fischer titrator fits perfectly into your testing environment.

  • Compact design saves space in the lab without compromising your results.
  • Durable heat and chemical resistant body.
  • Sealed solvent system helps prevent water from entering the system, while minimizing your exposure to reagents.

Dynamic titrant dosing

The dynamic titrant dosing feature provides accurate and timely titration results by relating the volume of titrant dosed to the mV response of the titration reaction. This allows larger doses to be delivered at the beginning of titration and smaller, more accurate doses to be delivered at the end of titration.

Drift Rate Compensation

The Karl Fischer HI933 Volumetric Titrator automatically adjusts the titration calculation to account for the effects of ambient humidity entering the titration cell. This provides a more accurate result by correcting for water not present in the actual sample.

Averaging of titration results

Successive results of a Karl Fischer titration method can be averaged with the recording of the standard deviation.

Titration record

The HI933 titration database can store information for up to 20 titrations. The database can be programmed to remind the user when to standardize their titrant, thus reducing analysis errors.

Endpoint selection criteria

The HI933 uses a dual platinum electrode for bivoltammetric endpoint determination. Users can choose endpoint criteria based on mV stability times or drift rates.

Multi-step cell preparation

A pre-titration step removes residual water present in the solvent and cell, providing a reliable baseline to start the analysis. The standby mode then keeps the solvent dry between titrations and when the titrator is not in use.

Be confident in your results.

Our unmatched 40,000 pitch piston dosing pump is capable of dosing extremely small and precise volumes of reagent, helping you achieve a highly accurate endpoint.

Designed to be tough

Suction and delivery tubes are made of durable, chemical-resistant PTFE and feature a light-blocking polyurethane outer sleeve to protect light-sensitive reagents

Anti-scatter dispensing tip

A specially designed glass dispensing tip accurately dispenses titrant into highly turbulent mixing areas, ensuring a rapid response. Its angled construction prevents titrant diffusion into the sample solvent.

Titration and solvent system

Efficient sample handling

The HI933 features a quick-release sample port with a replaceable rubber septum for quick and easy sample introduction into the titration vessel. A built-in magnetic stirrer ensures homogeneity for an accurate and fast reaction.

Chemical-resistant titration vessel

The glass and PTFE titration cell and fittings are designed to withstand the aggressive solvents and reagents used in Karl Fischer titration.

Sealed solvent system

The titration vessel is completely sealed to minimize exposure to ambient moisture, keep the system dry and reduce solvent consumption while saving time between titrations. The solvent can be replaced in seconds without opening the titration vessel.

Visually recognizable desiccant

A refillable, color-indicating silica gel desiccant prevents ambient moisture from entering the sealed system while maintaining full titrator functionality. The color change of the desiccant allows the user to recognize when its adsorption capacity is depleted and it is ready to be replaced or refilled.

Q&A

What is a digital refractometer for food used for?

A digital refractometer for food is used to measure the sugar concentration of liquid food products. It analyzes the refractive index of the sample and converts the result into % Brix, which represents the percentage of sugar dissolved in the solution. This type of measurement is commonly used in the production and quality control of foods such as fruit juices, honey, jams, sauces, and beverages.

What does % Brix mean in food analysis?

% Brix indicates the percentage of sucrose by weight in a solution. For example, a reading of 10% Brix means that 10 grams of sugar are present in 100 grams of solution. Brix measurement is widely used in the food and beverage industry to evaluate sweetness, ripeness, and product consistency.

How does a digital refractometer measure sugar content?

A digital refractometer measures how light bends, or refracts, when it passes through a liquid sample. The degree of refraction changes depending on the concentration of dissolved substances such as sugars. The instrument converts this refractive index into a direct Brix value using established reference tables.

What types of food products can be tested with a digital refractometer?

Digital refractometers can be used to test a wide range of foods and beverages including fruit juices, energy drinks, soy milk, honey, jam, marmalade, soups, sauces, and other liquid or semi-liquid food products where sugar concentration needs to be monitored.

How much sample is required for measurement?

Most digital refractometers require only a very small sample to perform a test. Typically, about two drops of liquid (approximately 100 µL) are enough to cover the measuring prism and obtain an accurate reading.

How quickly does a digital refractometer provide results?

Many portable digital refractometers provide readings within approximately 1.5 seconds after the sample is placed on the prism. This allows for fast testing in both laboratory and field environments.

Does temperature affect Brix measurements?

Yes, temperature can influence refractive index measurements. For this reason, many digital refractometers include automatic temperature compensation (ATC), which automatically adjusts the reading to maintain accuracy when the sample temperature varies.

Why is measuring sugar concentration important in food production?

Monitoring sugar concentration helps ensure consistent taste, product quality, and proper processing conditions. In many food applications, Brix levels are used to determine fruit ripeness, control formulation during production, and maintain quality standards in finished products.
