Optimized for turf and soil management

The TDR 150 delivers accurate soil moisture measurements directly at the root zone, helping turf managers, landscapers, and researchers make informed irrigation and soil management decisions quickly and efficiently.

This meter widely used by agronomists, horticulturists, landscapers, and environmental scientists to measure moisture levels in soil for irrigation planning, crop monitoring, and landscape health assessments. Reliable moisture data supports decisions on water management and plant growth, and agricultural extension services note that quantitative soil moisture measurements help optimize irrigation scheduling and reduce water waste in field and greenhouse operations.

Professionals value soil moisture meters for their fast, direct readings that help map moisture variation across planting areas and support crop quality control. Compared with visual inspection or subjective feel tests, objective moisture meters provide precise data that improve irrigation efficiency, environmental monitoring, and soil management practices in agriculture, landscaping, and horticultural testing workflows.

Q&A

What is the TDR 150 best used for?

It is ideal for measuring soil moisture, electrical conductivity, and turf surface temperature in turf management, research, and container-grown plants.

Can the TDR 150 connect to mobile devices?

Yes, with optional Bluetooth, it works with the FieldScout Mobile App on iOS and Android for real-time data analysis.

How many readings can it store?

The TDR 150’s data logger can record approximately 50,000 measurements, easily transferred via USB flash drive.

Do I need rods to use the meter?

Yes, rods are required for accurate soil moisture measurements.

Is it suitable for measuring turf canopies?

Yes, with the optional IR Temperature sensor, canopy temperatures can be measured for advanced turf monitoring.

QUICK TIP:

Setting up the meter

  1. Remove the battery transport tab from the display unit.
  2. Select and attach the probe rods securely to the sensor block.
  3. Adjust user settings via the settings menu. See Settings Menu (page 8).
