Monarch PLT200 Portable Laser Tachometer for Rotational Speed Measurement in Industrial Equipment
- Tripod Mounting Bushing
- On-Target and Low Battery Indicators
- Rugged Rubberized Housing
The Digital Tachometer is a digital, battery-powered portable optical tachometer, which operates up to 25 feet* from a reflective target using a Class 2 laser light source.
This tachometer has been referenced in industry reviews and technical articles as a reliable tool for precise rotational speed measurement in both laboratory and industrial settings. Peer-reviewed sources highlight its accuracy and ease of use, while customer feedback emphasizes its ergonomic design and versatility for maintenance, quality control, and mechanical diagnostics. Popular applications include measuring motor speeds, conveyor belts, and rotating machinery, with users noting consistent performance across various environments.
The ergonomic design allows safe, direct line-of-sight viewing of both the target and the display at the same time, while providing a non-slip rubber surface for single-hand operation. CE Approved.
Multi-Function
Versatile Measurement Options
PLT200 is a tachometer/ratemeter, totalizer/counter, and timer (stopwatch) with 32 functions, programmable in English and metric linear rates. Support is integrated for both our optional Remote Contact Assembly (RCA) and our Remote Sensors. PLT200 features a TTL compatible Pulse Output designed to activate devices such as data collectors or stroboscopes. The KIT comes fully equipped with a Remote Contact Assembly featuring concave and convex tips, a 10 cm linear speed wheel, a 5-foot roll of reflective tape, all packaged in a latching carrying case.
* Performance subject to intensity of ambient light irradiation.

To support comprehensive rotational speed measurement other instruments can be useful, for example, the Portable Digital Stroboscope provides both stroboscopic inspection and high‑accuracy RPM measurement up to 250,000 rpm–ideal for visual diagnostic evaluation of rotating machinery and quality control workflows. In systems requiring multi‑parameter environmental insights that can influence equipment performance, the Thermo‑anemometer delivers precise air velocity and temperature data for ventilation and cleanroom compliance testing. For operations where controlled rotational speed processes are part of broader laboratory protocols, the Hanna Checktemp® Digital Thermometer offers reliable temperature monitoring support, enhancing process validation when temperature and rotational dynamics interplay.
